Yes the sign was saved. They were suppose to put it back but their still working on the front of it. Right now it is in storage. I’ve seen it.

we saved the sheet metal service sign We cut it in half and half of it is hanging in the tobeys I LOVE THIS BAR in tulsa in the new hardrock changed up a little and the other half at my shop in okc off 10th street look us up

Have you ever been to So Tucson? There is a beautiful neon sign for the Arizona Inn (I think that’s the name of it) on South 6th Street south of 22nd. St. It’s such a beauty that when I’m in town and it’s dark enough to have the sign lit up, I drive waaay out of my way to see it! If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ve got to–it’s a real beauty!
Like you, I’m hooked on neon!

I love your site, which I found it when you commented on mine. I’ve seen various protective shields in other places too; there’s a great bowling alley sign in Wichita that’s protected by ugly hardware cloth. I’m told that some insurers demand this sort of thing.

This is interesting, because I saw the Alta View Motel come up on an iPhone App as the closest motel to my location. I thought it was just a GoogleMaps error, but now thanks to your post I find out that it really use to be there on State St.

Do you have any other vintage photos of Sandy?

Do you mind if I use your picture in our neighborhood newsletter? We have a lot of old timers who may remember this.
